California High School Baseball - Santa Ynez holds off Templeton
March 13, 2012: Santa Ynez, CA 93460 Santa Ynez Pirates (Santa Ynez, CA) fans exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they observed their baseball squad overcome the visiting Templeton Eagles (Templeton, CA), 4-0 in a league test.
With the win, Santa Ynez upgrades its record to 7-2 on the season. The Pirates host Lompoc (Lompoc, CA) to battle the Braves in a Los Padres test on Friday, March 16. The Braves come into the test with a record of 6-0. Lompoc won 4-3 in their recent league test against Cabrillo (Lompoc, CA)
With the defeat, Templeton falls to 5-1 on the season. The Eagles travel to Morro Bay (Morro Bay, CA) to battle the Pirates in a Los Padres game on Friday, March 16. The Pirates go into the game with a record of 0-6. Morro Bay lost 9-0 in their recent league game against Nipomo (Nipomo, CA)
Game Summary
The Pirates opened up league play with a 4-0 win over the visiting Templeton Eagles. Nathan Thompson pitched six strong innings to improve his record to 4-0. Thompson gave up only one hit and recorded an impressive 10 strikeouts. The Pirates scored two runs in the first inning on a double by Thomas Rowan after Colby Barrick and Felipe Gonzalez drew base on balls. Santa Ynez added one more run in tghe third on a RBI groundout by Zach DeMarcus and their final run in the 6th on an RBI single by Lee Jensen. Jensen also hit a double. Zach DeMarcus pitched the 7th picking off a runner at first and inducing two pop flies to end the game. Next up is a huge LPL showdown with Lompoc, a 4-3 winner over Cabrillo.
