New York High School Basketball - Wellsville nips Waverly
January 16, 2023: Wellsville, NY 14895 Wellsville Lions (Wellsville, NY) backers were in high spirits Monday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the visiting Waverly Wolverines (Waverly, NY), 55-53 in a non-league bout.
With the win, Wellsville upgrades its record to 4-2 on the season. The Lions travel to Canisteo-Greenwood (Canisteo, NY) to play the Redskins in a non-league bout on Saturday, January 21. The Redskins go into the bout with a record of 5-6. Canisteo-Greenwood lost 56-50 in their recent non-league bout against Bolivar-Richburg (Bolivar, NY)
Next up, the Wolverines play the Newark Valley Cardinals (Newark Valley, NY) in a Section 4 Interscholastic - South Large bout, on Tuesday, January 17. Waverly will attempt to upgrade on its 7-3 season record. The Cardinals go into the bout with a 6-7 record after their 57-52 non-league win over Whitney Point (Whitney Point, NY).
