In Friday's non-league battle, the visiting Independence Patriots soccer squad scored a close 3-2 win over the Central Academy Cougars.

The Patriots (5-1) will now prepare for their battle against Marvin Ridge (Waxhaw, NC). The Mavericks go into the non-league battle with a 5-2 record. In their last battle, Marvin Ridge nipped Palisades (Charlotte, NC), 6-0, in a non-league battle.
