Iowa High School Basketball - Independence overwhelms Belle Plaine
January 14, 2023: Independence, IA 50644 Fans at Saturday's non-league challenge between the Independence Mustangs (Independence, IA) and the visiting Belle Plaine Plainsmen (Belle Plaine, IA), saw Independence's basketball squad wallop Belle Plaine by a tally of 72-42.
With the victory, Independence improves its record to 6-5 on the campaign. The Mustangs travel to Marion (Marion, IA) to play the Wolves in a WAMAC - West challenge on Tuesday, January 17. The Wolves come into the challenge with a record of 9-4. Marion won 68-40 in their recent non-league challenge against New Hampton (New Hampton, IA)
Next up, the Plainsmen play the Keota Eagles (Keota, IA) in a South Iowa Cedar challenge, on Tuesday, January 17. Belle Plaine will attempt to improve on its 9-6 season record. The Eagles come into the challenge with a 12-5 record after their 60-40 non-league win over Hillcrest Academy (Kalona, IA).
