Groesbeck Goats (Groesbeck, TX) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting West Trojans (West, TX), 55-52 in a league bout.

With the victory, Groesbeck upgrades its record to 10-11 on the campaign. The Goats travel to Troy (Troy, TX) to confront the Trojans in a 3A Region III District 19 battle on Tuesday, January 9. The Trojans come into the battle with a record of 13-8. Troy lost 61-47 in their recent league battle against McGregor (McGregor, TX)

The Trojans (7-12) will now prepare for their battle against Clifton (Clifton, TX). The Cubs come into the 3A Region III District 19 battle with a 9-11 record. In their last battle, Clifton was nudged by Marlin (Marlin, TX), 46-25, in a league battle.
