Colorado High School Baseball - Northridge nips Mead
May 8, 2019: Longmont, CO 80504 Northridge Grizzlies (Greeley, CO) fans exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they observed their baseball squad hold off the host Mead Maverick (Longmont, CO), 1-0 in a non-league test.
With the win, Northridge upgrades its record to 9-12 on the season. The Grizzlies travel to Centaurus (Lafayette, CO) to battle the Warriors in a 4A Northern test on Thursday, May 9. The Warriors come into the test with a record of 14-6. Centaurus lost 10-6 in their recent league test against Silver Creek (Longmont, CO)
With the defeat, Mead falls to 6-11 on the season. The Maverick travel to Windsor (Windsor, CO) to battle the Wizards in a 4A/5A Tri-Valley test on Thursday, May 9. The Wizards come into the test with a record of 16-4. Windsor won 11-1 in their recent league test against Berthoud (Berthoud, CO)
Game Summary
Northridge wins their second straight game as they defeat Mead on a very cold and windy day. The Grizzlies win 1-0 behind the pitching of Louie Ramirez to improve to 9-12 overall and remain 3-9 in league play. The game was moved from Northridge to Mead due to wet grounds at Northridge. Louie Ramirez pitched a complete game shutout as he goes all 7 innings to improve to 4-3 throwing only 71 pitches giving up just 2 hits, 0 earned runs, 2 walks and 1 strikeout. The Grizzlies turn 2 double plays to help Ramirez. Northridge only gets 5 hits as they get their only run in the top of the 3rd as Caston Reid leads off with a walk.
