Ottawa Pirates (Ottawa, IL) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Mendota Trojans (Mendota, IL), 6-1 in a non-league challenge.

The Pirates now own a 19-5 record. They take the field next when they host Morris for a Interstate Eight challenge on Monday, May 8. Ottawa will battle a Redskins squad coming off a 6-1 non-league loss to Herscher (Herscher, IL). The Redskins record now stands at 21-7.
