Sweetwater Mustangs (Sweetwater, TX) backers were in high spirits Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Gunter Tigers (Gunter, TX), 59-47 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Sweetwater upgrades its record to 13-8 on the season. The Mustangs host Cooper (Abilene, TX) to clash with the Cougars in a non-league bout on Friday, December 31. The Cougars go into the bout with a record of 9-6. Cooper won 45-36 in their recent non-league bout against Snyder (Snyder, TX)

Next up, the Tigers clash with the Pottsboro Cardinals (Pottsboro, TX) in a 3A Region II District 11 bout, on Tuesday, January 4. Gunter will attempt to upgrade on its 11-3 season record. The Cardinals go into the bout with a 7-6 record after their 51-44 non-league loss to Celina (Celina, TX).
