New Jersey High School Basketball - Delbarton holds off Randolph
January 19, 2011: Morristown, NJ 07960 Delbarton Green Wave (Morristown, NJ) backers were in high spirits Wednesday as they witnessed their basketball squad nip the visiting Randolph Rams (Randolph, NJ), 54-51 in a league bout.
With the win, Delbarton upgrades its record to 7-4 on the season. The Green Wave host Morris Knolls (Rockaway, NJ) to play the Golden Eagles in a Northwest Jersey - American bout on Friday, January 21. The Golden Eagles go into the bout with a record of 9-3. Morris Knolls won 53-50 in their recent league bout against West Morris Mendham (Mendham, NJ)
Next up, the Rams play the Roxbury Gaels (Succasunna, NJ) in a Northwest Jersey - American bout, on Friday, January 21. Randolph will attempt to upgrade on its 3-7 season record. The Gaels go into the bout with a 6-4 record after their 69-44 league win over Parsippany Hills (Parsippany, NJ).
First Quarter
A back and forth quarter saw the Rams trail bya 21-11 score. Julian Aiken scored 5 of his 20 points in the quarter.
Second Quarter
Pat Tortorello scored 6 of his 10 points, as the Rams led 23-21 at the half.
Third Quarter
The third quarter was the Connor Mc Mahon show. His 8 quick points enabled the Rams to overcome a 9 point Delbarton lead and lead 39-38 lead.
Fourth Quarter
A late 5 point Delbarton lead disappreared on Julian Aiken drive, and a steal on the inbounds to tie the game at 51 with 12.5 seconds remaining. However, a Scott Curran 3 pointer with 2 seconds left gave the Green Wave a thrilling 54-51 victory.
