The Hickory Red Tornadoes basketball team scored 72 points and restricted the host Watauga Pioneers to 61 in the Red Tornadoes league victory on Tuesday.

The Red Tornadoes now sport a 3-1 record. They put it on the line next when they host St. Stephens for a Northwestern 3A/4A contest on Tuesday, January 26.

The Pioneers (1-4) will now prepare for their contest against Freedom (Morganton, NC). The Patriots come into the Northwestern 3A/4A contest with a 1-3 record. In their last contest, Freedom was defeated by Alexander Central (Taylorsville, NC), 78-48, in a league contest.
