August 28, 2021: Piqua, OH 45356 In Saturday's non-league contest, the Wayne Warriors (Huber Heights, OH) volleyball squad were winner over the host Piqua Indians (Piqua, OH), by a margin of 3-1.
Next up, the Warriors face the Beavercreek Beavers (Beavercreek, OH) in a Greater Western Ohio contest, on Thursday, September 2. Wayne will attempt to better on its 2-1 season record.
With the loss, Piqua moves to 0-3 on the year. The Indians host Tippecanoe (Tipp City, OH) to face the Red Devils in a Miami Valley League - Miami contest on Monday, August 30. The Red Devils go into the contest with a record of 3-0. Tippecanoe won 3-2 in their recent non-league contest against Bellbrook (Bellbrook, OH)
Match Summary
Lady Warriors back on track with a win over Piqua. The whole team played better starting off with serving. The team was 80 out of 93 (86%) with 15 aces. Also had a season high 38 kills and 96 digs! Senior Tristin Walter was 6 for 6 (100%), Senior Captain Abby Grembowski and Junior Captain Samara Wilcox was each 11 out of 12 (92%) with 6 of the 15 aces. Samara had 11 kills and Senior Erika Reed had her best game with 10 kills. Abby and Tristin both had 16 assists each. Freshman Maya Zinkiewicz had 24 digs while Samara had 23. Freshman Kendall Turner also stepped up while the Warriors was missing a key player that made Coach Sarah move some players around. She had 3 kills, 3 aces and 12 digs. One of those players that she moved was versatile Senior "Do it All" Bryana Howard!! She moved to the middle where she did her thing!!!
