Indiana High School Basketball - Shelbyville tops Pendleton Heights
January 30, 2021: Shelbyville, IN 46176 Fans at Saturday's league challenge between the Shelbyville Golden Bears (Shelbyville, IN) and the visiting Pendleton Heights Arabians (Pendleton, IN), saw Shelbyville's basketball squad knock off Pendleton Heights by a count of 68-60.
With the victory, Shelbyville upgrades its record to 5-8 on the campaign. The Golden Bears travel to Greenwood (Greenwood, IN) to play the Woodmen in a non-league challenge on Thursday, February 4. The Woodmen come into the challenge with a record of 10-2. Greenwood won 25-22 in their recent non-league challenge against Roncalli (Indianapolis, IN)
Next up, the Arabians play the Yorktown Tigers (Yorktown, IN) in a Hoosier Heritage challenge, on Thursday, February 4. Pendleton Heights will attempt to upgrade on its 4-10 season record. The Tigers come into the challenge with a 12-6 record after their 59-37 non-league loss to Carroll (Fort Wayne, IN).
First Quarter
A slow start offensively put the Arabians in a hole that they couldn't climb out of. Only 7 points were scored with Ethan Ross getting 3 and Evan John and Jamison Dunham each with 2. Josiah Gustin was the star of the quarter as he managed to pull down 5 of the Arabians 8 rebounds.
Second Quarter
Jamison Dunham picked up his scoring in the second quarter as he put 5 points on the board. Dauntez Braxton, Evan John and Josia Gustin each scored 2.
Third Quarter
The third quarter saw Jamison Dunham continue to score points as he put 10 on the board. Luke Candiano was the only other Arabian to score as he hit for 4 points.
Fourth Quarter
The Arabians exploded in the final quarter, but still couldn't score enough to win the game. Jamison Dunham once again led all Arabians with 14 points. Dauntez Braxton scored 8, Luke Weaver with 3, Luke Candiano with 2 and Gabe Simons scored 1.
