In Saturday's non-league challenge, the Newton County Cougars (Decatur, MS) baseball squad the visiting Meridian Wildcats (Meridian, MS), by a final score of 7-5.

With the win, Newton County upgrades its record to 2-0 on the season. The Cougars host Neshoba Central (Philadelphia, MS) to battle the Rockets in a non-league challenge on Thursday, March 6. The Rockets come into the challenge with a record of 2-1.
