The Taylorsville Tartars basketball team scored 70 points and held the visiting Simpson Academy Cougars to 44 in the Tartars non-league triumph on Thursday.

The Tartars now sport a 9-5 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to North Forrest for a 2A Region 8 contest on Tuesday, January 20. Taylorsville will battle a Eagles team coming off a 76-47 league win over Mize (Mize, MS). The Eagles record now stands at 10-3.

The Cougars (19-5) will now prepare for their contest against Wayne Academy (Waynesboro, MS). The Jaguars enter the MAIS AA District 4 contest with a 1-1 record.
