Washington High School Basketball - Newport topped by Chewelah
December 5, 2023: Newport, WA 99156 The Chewelah Cougars basketball team scored 56 points and restricted the host Newport Grizzlies to 44 in the Cougars non-league victory on Tuesday.
The Cougars now sport a 3-0 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to St. George's for a 2B Bi-County contest on Friday, December 8. Chewelah will battle a Dragons team coming off a 69-51 non-league loss to Freeman (Rockford, WA). The Dragons record now stands at 2-1.
The Grizzlies (0-1) will now prepare for their contest against Deer Park (Deer Park, WA). The Stags come into the 1A Northeast contest with a 1-2 record. In their last contest, Deer Park dropped by Bonners Ferry (Bonners Ferry, ID), 67-33, in a non-league contest.
