Mississippi High School Basketball - Oxford trounces Independence

The Oxford Chargers (Oxford, MS) basketball crushed the host Independence Wildcats (Independence, MS), 69-47 in Wednesday's non-league test.

The Chargers (15-5) will now prepare for their test against Saltillo (Saltillo, MS). The Tigers go into the 5A Region 2 test with a 14-7 record. In their last test, Saltillo walloped Potts Camp (Potts Camp, MS), 65-41, in a non-league test.

The Wildcats now possess a 8-12 record. They play next when they travel to Water Valley for a 3A Region 2 challenge on Friday, January 20. Independence will play a Blue Devils squad coming off a 97-39 league loss to Holly Springs (Holly Springs, MS). The Blue Devils record now stands at 4-11.
