Michigan High School Baseball - Anderson loses to Woodhaven
April 20, 2012: Southgate, MI 48195 The Anderson Titans baseball team (Southgate, MI), was overwhelmed 7-3 in Friday's league outing with the visiting Woodhaven Warriors (Brownstown, MI)
The Warriors now hold a 4-4 record. They play next when they host Crestwood for a non-league test on Saturday, April 21. Woodhaven will battle a Chargers squad coming off a 7-1 league win over Romulus (Romulus, MI). The Chargers record now stands at 4-3.
With the defeat, Anderson falls to 3-3 on the season. The Titans host Start (Toledo, OH) to battle the Spartans in a non-league test on Saturday, April 21. The Spartans come into the test with a record of 2-2.
Game Summary
The Warriors traveled to Southgate and ended a 14 year winless drought defeating the Tians 7-3. Senior Zack Zsolcsak allowed to first inning runs on three Titan hits then settled down to pitch his second complete game victory in his last two starts. Zack scattered nine hits and struck out five batters and walked only one batter. The Warriors broke open a tie game in the top of the seventh when Chris Koss's single drove home Brad Connochie with what would be the game winning run. Layne Gusler's single and Tyler Thimmes's bases loaded single brought home three insurance runs for the victorious Warriors. Thimmes had three hits in the game and Koss and Gusler each had two apiece. The victory improved the Warrior record to 3-1 in the league winning three straight after dropping a tough 5-0 loss to Allen Park in the season opener.
