Syracuse--It’s been a while since a 5A or 6A state title has been won by a team outside of Utah County. The Syracuse Titans are one of those programs that have realistic aspirations to break this dominance taking a 3-1 match win over Skyridge on Tuesday August 24. The loss dropped the Falcons to 1-1 in the 2021 campaign.
Syracuse won the first game 25-16 but the Falcons knotted the match with a stirring 28-26 win in the second game. But the Titans bounced back with two close wins in sets three and four, taking the third game 25-23 and the fourth and final set 25-21.
The match showed that the Falcons do need to make some improvements to reach their lofty goals of competing for the 2021 state championship, but the match showed that Skyridge does have the firepower to compete with some of the top 6A programs.
There was plenty of sparkling play by the Falcons in this match.
