California High School Softball - Canyon Crest Academy loses to Torrey Pines
April 2, 2011: San Diego, CA 92130 The Torrey Pines Falcons softball team scored 9 points and limited the visiting Canyon Crest Academy Ravens to 0 in the Falcons non-league triumph on Saturday.
With the triumph, Torrey Pines moves its record to 15-3 on the year. The Falcons host Mira Mesa (San Diego, CA) to clash with the Marauders in a non-league game on Monday, April 4. The Marauders come into the game with a record of 8-7. Mira Mesa lost 6-4 in their recent non-league game against Grossmont (El Cajon, CA)
In their next game, the Ravens clash with the Orange Glen Patriots (Escondido, CA) in a Valley game, on Tuesday, April 19. Canyon Crest Academy will attempt to move on its 2-7 season record.
Game Summary
The Torrey Pines Falcons completed a double-header sweep of district foe Canyon Crest Academy winning the 2nd game 9-0. Junior Taylor Lee improved to 9-2 by throwing 4 shut out innings and her sister, Senior Mary Lee finished up with 3 shut out innings. Sophomore Julia Yacker paced the Falcon offense going 2-3 with 3 runs scored, a triple and a long 2 run Home Run over the left field fence. Yacker also had 3 RBI's and a stolen base. Lauren Hynes went 3-4 with 2 RBI's and a stolen base for the winners, and Freshmen Emma Wong went 2-4, with 2 RBI's, a run scored and a stolen base for Torrey Pines who improved to 15-3-1 with the win. Sophomore Kaitlin Schreiber went 2-4 with 2 runs scored and an RBI for the Falcons and Junior, Alexa Lomberg went 2-4 with a double for the winners. Canyon Crest fell to 9-6 with the loss.
