The Leake Central Gators basketball team scored 59 points and held the host Newton County Cougars to 53 in the Gators non-league triumph on Thursday.

The Gators now sport a 6-7 record. They put it on the line next when they host Noxubee County for a 4A Region 4 contest on Friday, January 13.

The Cougars (3-8) will now prepare for their contest against Northeast Lauderdale (Meridian, MS). The Trojans enter the 4A Region 5 contest with a 3-10 record.
