New Mexico High School Basketball - Hobbs thwarts Portales
January 27, 2012: Portales, NM 88130 The Hobbs Eagles (Hobbs, NM) basketball felled the host Portales Rams (Portales, NM), 40-28 in Friday's non-league test.
The Eagles (16-9) will now prepare for their test against Carlsbad (Carlsbad, NM). The Cavemen go into the 5A District 4 test with a 13-6 record. In their last test, Carlsbad defeated Chaparral (Chaparral, NM), 59-43, in a non-league test.
The Rams now own a 8-9 record. They take the field next when they travel to Roswell for a non-league test on Tuesday, January 31. Portales will clash with a Coyotes squad coming off a 46-36 non-league win over Las Cruces (Las Cruces, NM). The Coyotes record now stands at 14-6.
