West Islip Lions (West Islip, NY) backers were in high spirits Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad bounce the host Walt Whitman Wildcats (Huntington Station, NY), 62-39 in a league bout.

With the win, West Islip upgrades its record to 2-1 on the season.

Next up, the Wildcats play the Smithtown West (Smithtown, NY) in a Section 11 AA-1 bout, on Thursday, January 12. Walt Whitman will attempt to upgrade on its 0-6 season record. The go into the bout with a 1-0 record after their 77-49 league win over North Babylon (North Babylon, NY).
