Fans at Wednesday's non-league challenge between the South County Vipers (Franklin, IL) and the visiting Gillespie Miners (Gillespie, IL), saw South County's basketball squad wallop Gillespie by a count of 77-49.

With the victory, South County upgrades its record to 14-6 on the campaign. The Vipers host Mt. Olive (Mt. Olive, IL) to play the Wildcats in a MSM challenge on Friday, January 12. The Wildcats go into the test with a record of 3-14. Mt. Olive won 42-36 in their recent non-league test against Lebanon (Lebanon, IL)

The Miners now own a 4-15 record. They play next when they host Hillsboro for a South Central test on Friday, January 26.
