In Friday's league contest, the host Pomperaug Panthers basketball team scored a close 66-62 triumph over the Newtown Nighthawks.
The Panthers (4-3) will now prepare for their contest against Brookfield (Brookfield, CT). The Bobcats go into the Southwest contest with a 2-7 record. In their last contest, Brookfield nipped Joel Barlow (Redding, CT), 64-52, in a league contest.
In their next game, the Nighthawks battle the Masuk Panthers (Monroe, CT) in a Southwest contest, on Monday, January 13. Newtown will attempt to better on its 1-5 season record.
