The crowd at Friday's non-league challenge between the Cheverus Stags (Portland, ME) and the host Thornton Academy Trojans (Saco, ME), observed Cheverus's basketball team overwhelm Thornton Academy by a score of 60-32.

The Stags (8-3) will now prepare for their challenge against Sanford (Sanford, ME). The Spartans come into the non-league challenge with a 8-3 record. In their last challenge, Sanford trounced Bonny Eagle (Standish, ME), 47-18, in a league challenge.

In their next game, the Trojans encounter the South Portland Red Riots (South Portland, ME) in a AA South challenge, on Tuesday, January 14. Thornton Academy will attempt to improve on its 3-7 season record. The Red Riots come into the challenge with a 8-3 record after their 34-29 non-league loss to Oxford Hills (South Paris, ME).
