The Hardin County Cougars basketball team scored 48 points and held the visiting Cobden Appleknockers to 40 in the Cougars non-league triumph on Wednesday.

The Cougars now sport a 4-11 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Pope County for a Greater Egyptian contest on Friday, January 13. Hardin County will meet a Pirates team coming off a 62-47 league loss to Norris City-Omaha-Enfield (Norris City, IL). The Pirates record now stands at 11-7.

With the defeat, Cobden moves to 5-10 on the year. The Appleknockers host Elverado (Elkville, IL) to meet the Falcons in a non-league match on Friday, January 13. The Falcons enter the match with a record of 6-10. Elverado won 56-50 in their recent league match against Century (Ullin, IL)
