New Castle Hurricanes (New Castle, PA) backers were in high spirits Wednesday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the host Farrell Steelers (Farrell, PA), 38-37 in a non-league bout.

With the win, New Castle upgrades its record to 2-5 on the season. The Hurricanes travel to Mars (Mars, PA) to play the Fightin' Planets in a WPIAL 5A 2 bout on Monday, January 16. The Fightin' Planets go into the bout with a record of 8-2. Mars won 50-44 in their recent league bout against North Hills (Pittsburgh, PA)

Next up, the Steelers play the Jamestown Muskies (Jamestown, PA) in a District 10 Region 1 bout, on Thursday, January 12. Farrell will attempt to upgrade on its 1-8 season record. The Muskies go into the bout with a 2-6 record after their 40-28 non-league loss to Meadville (Meadville, PA).
