Maranacook Black Bears (Readfield, ME) backers were in high spirits Thursday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Winthrop Ramblers (Winthrop, ME), 70-50 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Maranacook upgrades its record to 7-1 on the season. The Black Bears travel to Hall-Dale (Farmingdale, ME) to play the Bulldogs in a non-league bout on Monday, January 15. The Bulldogs go into the bout with a record of 4-4. Hall-Dale won 70-56 in their recent non-league bout against Oak Hill (Sabattus, ME)

Next up, the Ramblers play the Mountain Valley Falcons (Rumford, ME) in a non-league bout, on Saturday, January 13. Winthrop will attempt to upgrade on its 5-3 season record. The Falcons go into the bout with a 4-5 record after their 51-36 league win over Lisbon (Lisbon Falls, ME).
