Santa Gertrudis Academy Lions (Kingsville, TX) fans were thrilled Thursday as they observed their soccer team knock off the visiting Poteet Aggies (Poteet, TX), 2-0 in a non-league challenge.

Next, the Lions face the Jones Trojans (Beeville, TX) in a 4A Region 4 District 29 challenge, on Friday, January 19. Santa Gertrudis Academy will attempt to better on its 1-0 season record. The Trojans enter the challenge with a 2-3 record after their 4-0 non-league win over Miller (Corpus Christi, TX).

The Aggies now have a 0-3 record. They take the field next when they travel to Rockport-Fulton for a non-league challenge on Friday, January 12. Poteet will face a Pirates team coming off a 3-2 non-league win over IDEA South Flores (San Antonio, TX). The Pirates record now stands at 1-1.
