Fans at Saturday's non-league battle between the Fremont Firebirds (Sunnyvale, CA) and the host Monterey Dores (Monterey, CA), saw Fremont's soccer squad knock off Monterey by a count of 3-1.

The Firebirds (6-1) will now prepare for their battle against Monta Vista (Cupertino, CA). The Matadors enter the SCVAL - El Camino battle with a 3-7 record. In their last battle, Monta Vista by Saratoga (Saratoga, CA), 2-0, in a league battle.

Next up, the Dores battle the Hollister Haybalers (Hollister, CA) in a PCAL - Gabilan battle, on Wednesday, January 15. Monterey will attempt to upgrade on its 4-3 season record. The Haybalers enter the battle with a 5-3 record after their 2-2 league Rancho San Juan (Salinas, CA).
