Miramonte Matadors (Orinda, CA) boosters exited the stadium pleased Saturday as they saw their soccer squad hold off the visiting Pinole Valley Spartans (Pinole, CA), 2-1 in a non-league battle.

The Matadors (2-2) will now prepare for their battle against Antioch (Antioch, CA). The Panthers enter the non-league battle with a 2-6 record. In their last battle, Antioch was edged by Emerald (Dublin, CA), 3-2, in a league battle.

Next up, the Spartans battle the Saint Mary's Panthers (Albany, CA) in a battle, on Tuesday, January 14. Pinole Valley will attempt to upgrade on its 3-7 season record. The Panthers enter the battle with a 1-0 record after their 3-0 league win over Salesian College Preparatory (Richmond, CA).
