Mount St. Charles Academy Mounties (Woonsocket, RI) fans left the game thrilled Friday as they witnessed their ice hockey team achieve victory over the visiting Cumberland Clippers (Cumberland, RI), 8-1 in a league match.

The Mounties (3-6) will now prepare for their match against Prout (Wakefield, RI). The Crusaders enter the State Championship Division match with a 14-0 record. In their last match, Prout held off Burrillville (Harrisville, RI), 2-1, in a league match.

Next up, the Clippers encounter the Smithfield Sentinels (Esmond, RI) in a State Championship Division match, on Monday, January 15. Cumberland will attempt to advance on its 2-4 season record. The Sentinels enter the match with a 6-5 record after their 3-1 non-league loss to Notre Dame (West Haven, CT).
