Mississippi High School Basketball - Walnut knocked off by Belmont

The Belmont Cardinals basketball team scored 74 points and held the visiting Walnut Wildcats to 64 in the Cardinals league triumph on Friday.

The Cardinals now sport a 9-8 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Pine Grove for a 2A Region 1 contest on Tuesday, January 17. Belmont will meet a Panthers team coming off a 61-58 non-league win over Central (Florence, AL). The Panthers record now stands at 15-7.

The Wildcats (6-12) will now prepare for their contest against East Union (Blue Springs, MS). The Urchins enter the 2A Region 1 contest with a 7-11 record. In their last contest, East Union was outscored by West Union (Myrtle, MS), 77-49, in a non-league contest.
