The Newark Valley Cardinals basketball team scored 57 points and held the visiting Whitney Point Eagles to 52 in the Cardinals non-league triumph on Friday.

The Cardinals now sport a 6-7 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Waverly for a Section 4 Interscholastic - South Large contest on Tuesday, January 17. Newark Valley will meet a Wolverines team coming off a 55-53 non-league loss to Wellsville (Wellsville, NY). The Wolverines record now stands at 7-3.

The Eagles (5-7) will now prepare for their contest against Charles O. Dickerson (Trumansburg, NY). The Blue Raiders enter the Section 4 Interscholastic - North Large contest with a 2-4 record. In their last contest, Charles O. Dickerson was nudged by Watkins Glen (Watkins Glen, NY), 70-39, in a non-league contest.
