Newell-Fonda Mustangs (Newell, IA) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad bounce the visiting West Bend-Mallard Wolverines (West Bend, IA), 82-50 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Newell-Fonda upgrades its record to 5-1 on the campaign. The Mustangs travel to Storm Lake St. Mary (Storm Lake, IA) to play the Panthers in a Twin Lakes bout on Tuesday, January 17. The Panthers come into the bout with a record of 0-7. Storm Lake St. Mary lost 57-25 in their recent league bout against East Sac County (Lake View, IA)

Next up, the Wolverines play the East Sac County Raiders (Lake View, IA) in a non-league bout, on Tuesday, January 17. West Bend-Mallard will attempt to upgrade on its 4-6 season record. The Raiders come into the bout with a 2-8 record after their 57-25 league win over Storm Lake St. Mary (Storm Lake, IA).
