Luverne Tigers (Luverne, AL) backers were in high spirits Saturday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Brantley Bulldogs (Brantley, AL), 40-27 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Luverne upgrades its record to 9-6 on the season. The Tigers travel to Zion Chapel (Jack, AL) to play the Rebels in a 2A Area 4 bout on Tuesday, January 16. The Rebels go into the bout with a record of 15-6. Zion Chapel won 59-48 in their recent league bout against Goshen (Goshen, AL)

Next up, the Bulldogs play the Houston County Lions (Columbia, AL) in a 1A Area 2 bout, on Tuesday, January 16. Brantley will attempt to upgrade on its 9-8 season record. The Lions go into the bout with a 2-13 record after their 64-47 league loss to Florala (Florala, AL).
