Sargent Farmers (Monte Vista, CO) backers were pleased Saturday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the visiting La Veta Redhawks (La Veta, CO), 55-41 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Sargent upgrades its record to 8-1 on the campaign. The Farmers host Trinidad (Trinidad, CO) to play the Miners in a 3A/2A Southern Peaks bout on Thursday, January 18. The Miners come into the bout with a record of 0-8. Trinidad lost 58-31 in their recent non-league bout against Centennial (San Luis, CO)

Next up, the Redhawks play the Sangre de Cristo Thunderbirds (Mosca, CO) in a non-league bout, on Tuesday, January 16. La Veta will attempt to upgrade on its 3-6 season record. The Thunderbirds come into the bout with a 5-3 record after their 42-37 non-league win over Custer County (Westcliffe, CO).
