St. Bernard Vikings (Playa del Rey, CA) backers were in high spirits Saturday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Mater Dei Catholic Crusaders (Chula Vista, CA), 85-72 in a non-league bout.

With the win, St. Bernard upgrades its record to 9-9 on the season. The Vikings host Bishop Montgomery (Torrance, CA) to play the Knights in a Del Rey bout on Wednesday, January 17. The Knights go into the bout with a record of 9-11. Bishop Montgomery lost 68-57 in their recent non-league bout against Village Christian (Sun Valley, CA)

Next up, the Crusaders play the San Ysidro Cougars (San Diego, CA) in a Mesa bout, on Wednesday, January 17. Mater Dei Catholic will attempt to upgrade on its 10-9 season record. The Cougars go into the bout with a 4-15 record after their 62-40 league loss to Otay Ranch (Chula Vista, CA).
