Lafayette Commodores (Oxford, MS) fans were pleased Saturday as they observed their soccer team hold off the host Ripley Tigers (Ripley, MS), 2-1 in a non-league challenge.

Next, the Commodores confront the West Point Green Wave (West Point, MS) in a 5A Region 1 challenge, on Friday, January 19. Lafayette will attempt to better on its 11-6 season record. The Green Wave enter the challenge with a 3-8 record after their 8-0 league loss to Corinth (Corinth, MS).

The Tigers now have a 6-12 record. They take the field next when they host Itawamba Agricultural for a 4A Region 2 challenge on Tuesday, January 16.
