The crowd at Monday's league challenge between the Shamokin Area Indians (Coal Township, PA) and the visiting Mifflinburg Wildcats (Mifflinburg, PA), observed Shamokin Area's basketball team knock off Mifflinburg by a score of 76-61.

The Indians (12-2) will now prepare for their challenge against Midd-West (Middleburg, PA). The Mustangs come into the Heartland I challenge with a 2-8 record. In their last challenge, Midd-West was knocked off by Central Mountain (Mill Hall, PA), 67-55, in a league challenge.

In their next game, the Wildcats encounter the Bloomsburg Panthers (Bloomsburg, PA) in a Heartland III challenge, on Wednesday, January 15. Mifflinburg will attempt to improve on its 7-7 season record. The Panthers come into the challenge with a 8-5 record after their 64-47 non-league loss to Danville (Danville, PA).
