In Monday's non-league contest, the host Centralia Orphans basketball team scored a close 50-48 triumph over the Columbia Eagles.
The Orphans (9-7) will now prepare for their contest against Cahokia (Cahokia, IL). The Comanches go into the South Seven contest with a 0-13 record. In their last contest, Cahokia was tipped by Carbondale (Carbondale, IL), 68-17, in a league contest.
In their next game, the Eagles battle the East Alton-Wood River Oilers (Wood River, IL) in a Cahokia - Mississippi contest, on Thursday, January 16. Columbia will attempt to better on its 13-4 season record. The Oilers go into the contest with a 7-13 record after their 55-38 non-league win over Gibault Catholic (Waterloo, IL).
