With the victory, Valdez improves its record to 7-0 on the campaign. The Buccaneers travel to Galena (Galena, AK) to confront the Hawks in a 3A Aurora challenge on Friday, January 20. The Hawks come into the challenge with a record of 1-1.

Next up, the Mariners confront the Kenai Central Kardinals (Kenai, AK) in a 3A Peninsula challenge, on Tuesday, January 17. Homer will attempt to improve on its 0-6 season record. The Kardinals come into the challenge with a 6-3 record after their 70-24 non-league win over Redington (Wasilla, AK).
