The Mercer Mustangs (Mercer, PA) basketball nipped the visiting Laurel Spartan (New Castle, PA), 62-57 in Saturday's non-league test.
The Mustangs (8-4) will now prepare for their test against Sharpsville (Sharpsville, PA). The Blue Devils go into the District 10 Region 2 test with a 3-8 record. In their last test, Sharpsville was tipped by Jamestown (Jamestown, PA), 61-45, in a non-league test.
The Spartan now own a 4-8 record. They play next when they travel to Northgate for a WPIAL 2A 1 test on Tuesday, January 17. Laurel will encounter a Flames squad coming off a 105-78 non-league win over Westinghouse (Pittsburgh, PA). The Flames record now stands at 10-4.
