Caldwell Chiefs (West Caldwell, NJ) backers were pleased Sunday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Hillsborough Raiders (Hillsborough, NJ), 52-51 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Caldwell upgrades its record to 7-4 on the campaign. The Chiefs host Newark Tech (Newark, NJ) to play the Terries in a Super Essex - Liberty bout on Tuesday, January 16. The Terries come into the bout with a record of 7-3. Newark Tech won 77-61 in their recent non-league bout against West Caldwell Tech (West Caldwell, NJ)

Next up, the Raiders play the Sparta Spartans (Sparta, NJ) in a non-league bout, on Tuesday, January 16. Hillsborough will attempt to upgrade on its 8-2 season record. The Spartans come into the bout with a 5-5 record after their 65-57 non-league win over Jefferson Township (Oak Ridge, NJ).
