The Thornwood Thunderbirds (South Holland, IL) basketball knocked off the host Proviso West Panthers (Hillside, IL), 59-45 in Sunday's non-league test.

The Thunderbirds (10-9) will now prepare for their test against Thornton (Harvey, IL). The Wildcats go into the Southland test with a 15-2 record. In their last test, Thornton notched a victory over Niles North (Skokie, IL), 67-60, in a non-league test.

The Panthers now own a 6-10 record. They play next when they host Lyons for a West Suburban - Silver test on Tuesday, January 16. Proviso West will encounter a Lions squad coming off a 61-50 non-league loss to DeKalb (DeKalb, IL). The Lions record now stands at 5-11.
