Fans at Sunday's non-league challenge between the Wayne Warriors (Huber Heights, OH) and the host Newark Wildcats (Newark, OH), saw Wayne's basketball squad knock off Newark by a count of 49-36.
With the victory, Wayne upgrades its record to 8-8 on the campaign. The Warriors host Springboro (Springboro, OH) to play the Panthers in a Greater Western Ohio challenge on Wednesday, January 17. The Panthers come into the challenge with a record of 11-5. Springboro won 40-35 in their recent non-league challenge against Varsity Opponent (, )
Next up, the Wildcats play the Lancaster Golden Gales (Lancaster, OH) in a Ohio Capital - Buckeye challenge, on Friday, January 19. Newark will attempt to upgrade on its 7-8 season record. The Golden Gales come into the challenge with a 9-7 record after their 54-47 non-league loss to Logan (Logan, OH).
