Southwood Cowboys (Shreveport, LA) backers were in high spirits Sunday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Avoyelles Charter Vikings (Mansura, LA), 61-53 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Southwood upgrades its record to 12-9 on the season. The Cowboys travel to Airline (Bossier City, LA) to play the Vikings in a 5A District 1 bout on Tuesday, January 17. The Vikings go into the bout with a record of 11-11. Airline won 60-51 in their recent league bout against Natchitoches Central (Natchitoches, LA)

Next up, the Vikings play the Harrisonburg Bulldogs (Harrisonburg, LA) in a B District 5 bout, on Tuesday, January 17. Avoyelles Charter will attempt to upgrade on its 22-1 season record. The Bulldogs go into the bout with a 4-11 record after their 68-45 league win over Grace Christian (Alexandria, LA).
