Illinois High School Basketball - Cairo overwhelmed by Mt. Vernon

The Mt. Vernon Rams basketball team scored 80 points and restricted the host Cairo Pilots to 40 in the Rams non-league victory on Monday.

The Rams now sport a 19-3 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Carterville for a non-league contest on Thursday, January 18. Mt. Vernon will battle a Lions team coming off a 51-29 non-league win over Central (Cape Girardeau, MO). The Lions record now stands at 18-5.

The Pilots (6-14) will now prepare for their contest against Central (Cape Girardeau, MO). The Tigers come into the non-league contest with a 5-7 record. In their last contest, Central was routed by Carterville (Carterville, IL), 51-29, in a non-league contest.
