In Wednesday's non-league contest, the host Wheelersburg Pirates basketball team scored a big 48-24 triumph over the Fairfield Lions.

The Pirates (10-1) will now prepare for their contest against Minford (Minford, OH). The Falcons go into the Southern Ohio III contest with a 4-4 record. In their last contest, Minford smashed Portsmouth West (West Portsmouth, OH), 54-37, in a league contest.

In their next game, the Lions battle the Eastern Warriors (Sardinia, OH) in a Southern Hills contest, on Thursday, January 16. Fairfield will attempt to better on its 2-10 season record. The Warriors go into the contest with a 10-4 record after their 54-36 league win over Peebles (Peebles, OH).
