In Thursday's non-league contest, the host Verona Wildcats basketball team scored a big 60-35 win over the McFarland Spartans.
The Wildcats (13-1) will now prepare for their contest against Madison East (Madison, WI). The Purgolders come into the Big Eight contest with a 5-7 record. In their last contest, Madison East was trounced by Madison La Follette (Madison, WI), 70-67, in a league contest.
In their next game, the Spartans battle the Fort Atkinson Blackhawks (Fort Atkinson, WI) in a non-league contest, on Saturday, January 18. McFarland will attempt to better on its 2-11 season record. The Blackhawks come into the contest with a 5-8 record after their 53-40 league loss to Milton (Milton, WI).
